Friday Movie News Recap: Han Solo, Jurassic Park and Independence Day!

It has been a huge week for news and rumors of all kinds in the world of movies. As usual, we take the time this evening to point out a few stories that we found most intriguing! Read on and tell us what you think!

Han Solo and Chewey To Get Their Own Movie

It has been known for some time that Disney, new owners of the Star Wars universe, will be putting out a movie every summer starting in 2015 with Star Wars: Episode VII. Now, Joblo.com is reporting that sources "in the know" say the summer of 2016 will bring a Han Solo-Chewbacca standalone film! Fanboys and girls can begin dreading the inevitable young Han casting announcements now!

Jurassic Park 4 Gets a Release Year and Possible Plot Details

Weeks ago we heard that Jurassic Park 4 was put on hold indefinitely. However, we all received a dose of good news this week when it was announced the film was now slated for a release in 2015. A few days later, rumors appeared online that the sequel will take place in the new, up and running Jurassic Park and feature tame dinosaurs battling new and more intelligent dinosaurs-alongside humans. Yeah, I'm not quite sure how that works either, but we'll see. It's fair to say that at this point, any JP4 news is suspect.

Independence Day 2 Gets A Fitting Release Date

While it's been rumored for a while, we finally have a concrete date for the Independence Day sequel. The film will open on July 3 in 2015, a year that is already very crowded with blockbusters including Star Wars: Episode VII and the Avengers 2. Depending on who you ask, we may even see a Justice League film that same year. Regardless, Independence Day 2 will most likely draw a huge crowd as the original is the quintessential summer blockbuster.

So there you have it! A rundown of the most interesting movie news stories of the week-as judged by me, anyway. Did we miss anything huge? Comment! Our comment section is very lonely!
