Opening This Week - June 21, 2013

Just as the ancient Mayans predicted, Friday has come once again and with it are new movies! So if you're planning to have a movie night this weekend, read on to see your options!

Monsters University

The long awaited prequel to Monsters Inc. takes us back in time to when Mike and Sully first meet in college. Personally, Monsters Inc. was not a Pixar movie that really resonates with me, but it is widely loved by most every one else so this installment will probably do very well.

World War Z

When the world goes crazy and rabid, fast zombies are quickly taking over the world, who else would you call besides Brad Pitt? World War Z follows Pitt as he travels the world trying to find the cause of the outbreak and thus a way to stop it. It's been a long road for this film which has had its share of setbacks and delays in production, but it seems to have paid off as it is getting great early reviews.

The Bling Ring

This one isn't opening as wide as the other two, but it deserves a mention. The Bling Ring is based on a rite story about a group of friends who are obsessed with the glamour of Hollywood. So much so, that they start breaking into the houses of celebrities and stealing their stuff. The only big name drawing people to see this one is Emma Watson, still riding her post-Harry Potter wave of success. Otherwise, this one looks pretty dull.
