Movie Rumors: Batman-Superman Movie May Be Getting One More Justice League Member

Good Saturday morning everyone. Dusty here and I wanna be clear right out of the gate on this one: this is complete and utter rumor. Latino Review is reporting that WB/DC is looking for an african american actor in his early twenties who is physically fit. They're also reporting that the role is a small one in the Man of Steel sequel, but will be recurring in other DC Universe movies.

To stir things up even more, Latino Review claims that Michael B. Jordan (the highly talented and much sought after actor who just landed the role of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in Fox's Fantastic Four reboot) met with Zack Snyder previously about this role. Some sites are interpreting this to mean Jordan is about to be announced as being in this movie as well; but its far more likely he was weighing his options between the two and chose Johnny Storm.

The big question on everyone's mind, though, is who this character is. The DC Universe has several african-american heroes: Martian Manhunter, John Stewart (Green Langern), John Henry Irons (Steel) to name a few. That's assuming the role is for a character who is traditionally black which, as we've seen with Perry White and Jenny Olsen in Man of Steel, Snyder and WB are not guaranteed to honor. Considering the characters age and fitness level, though, I would be willing to bet that the rest of the internet is right: we're looking for Cyborg.

Victor Stone, in the New 52 comics, is a college football star who also happens to be the son of Star Labs scientist Silas Stone. While visiting his dad at work, Victor has a terrible accident and ends up as a half man, half high-tech alien computer with bad-ass weaponry. Stone goes on to join up with the Justice League as one of its founding members.

There are a few reasons why Cyborg works in the DCU setup by Man of Steel. Henry Cavill recently explained one of these reasons himself while talking about references to the character in Man of Steel:
“What really intrigued me was Dr. Emil Hamilton’s connection to S.T.A.R. Labs. Cyborg I think would make a wonderful character and an incredible bridge between both superhumans and humanity in a different way to Batman. So I don’t know where he’s going to come in or if he’s going to come in, but that’s one I’m particularly excited about."
Sure, just because Henry Cavill wanted Cyborg to appear in this universe doesn't mean that's who this casting call is for or even that he will ever be in it, but stranger things have happened.

So what do you think? Is this rumor legit and if so, what charcter is the casting call for?
