Some weeks the news is slow, some weeks it's fast; and then some weeks it's just...what!? This has been one of those weeks. Here are a few things you may or may not have missed this week in the world of movie news. Including some "WTF" headlines.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Sequels
Now that he's out of the politics game, good old Arnold has been trying to break back into the movie world. Unfortunately, with appearances in The Expendables movies as well as a starring role in The Last Stand, he hasn't been able to recapture Hollywood's attention. He's looking to change all that with the announcement that he has three sequels in the works for franchises he made household names: Terminator 5 (In writing stages now), Conan The Barbarian, and-you guessed it- Twins (the new one is called Triplets and brings in Eddie Murphy). Time will tell if returning to wells most of us have long since boarded up will pay off for the former Governator.
Man of Steel Begins Its Marketing Blitz
A few weeks ago, fans waiting for the June 14th release of the Superman reboot Man of Steel could be found all over the internet saying things like, "Where is all the marketing for Man of Steel? They aren't even advertising it". This week, however, you can find those same people begging Warner Bros. for mercy. In the past week to two weeks, the studio has released one new full trailer, eleven TV spots, a Hardees/Carls Jr. Commercial, and two behind the scenes peaks. Not to mention a slew of sites and blogs who are finally allowed to post their set visit reports. All the attention has some fans complaining that they are seeing too much. To those individuals I say this: Stop watching/looking at/reading the stuff! Some of us love it and nothing has been spoiled.
WWE Superstars Head To Bedrock
A while back we heard that Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, was going to bring the Flintstones back to television, which made me very excited. But now, apparently that is no longer happening. Instead, the wrestlers from the WWE will be teaming with Warner Bros. To bring us a new Flintstones animated movie that finds Fred and Barney attending a WWE wrestling event. Really Warner Bros.? This is what you choose to do with such a beloved property? The only bright spot here is that it will be straight to DVD which means I can easily pretend it doesn't exist.
