Three Promising Summer Movies No One Is Talking About

The summer movie season finally kicks off this week and there are plenty of big titles to look forward to. You have your superhero epics, your starships, and your post-apocalyptic, visual feasts. But in the midst of the explosions and lasers, several smaller but equally promising films are on the summer horizon but not many people are talking about them. So to make sure you don't miss them, here are a few summer movies that you don't know about, but should.
1. Now You See Me - May 31, 2013

Part Oceans Eleven, part The Prestige, Now You See Me follows a group of illusionists who use their performances to pull of bank heists while being hunted by the FBI. The premise itself seems just original enough to pique my interest, but add to that a cast including Morgan Freeman, Michael Cain, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson, I'm officially on board! (I won't hold James Franco's little brother against it).

2. The Kings of Summer - May 31, 2013

Three teenagers decide to go into the woods and spend the summer building a house with their bare hands and living off the land. IMDB lists Kings of Summer as a comedy but from the look of it, there is a lot more to this story. Judging from the trailer, I get the feeling we're in store for some coming of age drama in that Dead Poets Society vein. Of course with Parks and Recreation veteran Nick Offerman and Community's Alison Brie appearing, the comedy promises to be top notch as well.

3. The World's End - August 23, 2013

So you loved Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz? Well odds are you liked it because of the action-comedy powerhouse that is the Edgar Wright-Simon Pegg-Nick Frost team. The World's End promises to bring these three back together for another apocalypse. It features a pub and five friends who suddenly  become mankind's only hope. Count me in!

Are any of these films on your radar? Did we miss any? Comment below!
