Thank God it's almost Friday! What are you guys up to this weekend? If you're planning on seeing a movie, let me breakdown what's playing this weekend. This week, we have three new releases as well as several holdovers from previous weeks.
1. Pain and Gain
From acclaimed (and hated) director Michael Bay (the Transformers movies) comes the story of three body builders who set out to rob a rich douche bag of his fortune. It could be terrible given Michael Bay's track record since, like, the 90's. But Mark Wahlberg shines in comedic rolls and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is truly coming into his own as an actor. If you see this, let me know what you thought!
2. The Big Wedding
This star studded wedding dramedy follows, what else, but a big family in the events leading up to a big wedding. The story sounds like any one of the throwaway wedding comedies that come out each year, but this cast, including Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Robin Williams and Susan Sarandon among many others, may prove to elevate this one to something better.
3. Mud
The oft-shirtless Matthew McConaughey headlines this dramatic film about two boys who meet a mysterious man while exploring an island in the Mississippi river. I don't have much in the way of an opinion on this one, but Rotten Tomatoes has it at 92% which is pretty awesome.
