I'm not sure if you've heard of The Wolf Among Us, a video game by TellTale studios - if you haven't, do check it out because it's amazing.
Without spoiling much of anything, the game (and the comics/graphic novels used to inspire it) center around fairy tale characters such as The Big Bad Wolf, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and other, well-known characters in a gritty, noir, type style. Essentially the game is worked like a crime drama, as players use Bigby, the Big Bad Wolf, to not only see and interact with the world, but learn about these other characters in a way that makes it seem very real and organic.
I'm saying all this because Warner Bros. studios is queuing up some amazing DC Comics movies, including Fables. I can imagine with the popularity of shows like Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, the studio is ready to break out the "dark," comic-book version of some of our beloved characters.
IGN has an (dated mind you) article about the project: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/04/fables-movie-in-the-works-from-the-team-behind-harry-potter
So far, Fables has been summed up like so: "A criminal-investigative oddity revolving around the murder of Snow
White’s social butterfly sister, with the Big Bad Wolf sheriff
investigating White’s boy toy, Jack – yeah, the one with the beanstalk."
So what do you guys think? You like the idea of these fairy tales coming to life in almost a Sin City kind of feel? Let us know!
